BB CREAM or CC CREAM...how to choose the right one?
BB and CC creams both are marketed as if they are designed different and are for separate issues, while theoretically are different. While honestly there is no difference between the both and serve identical purpose. The thing gets a bit confusing here a bit for some consumers because the BB/CC creams benefits and coverage differs greatly among different brands. For example Clinique’s CC cream is more opaque comparing to others. So the overage entirely depends on companies that can be just opted on personal preference. Still as the post is about there difference between both and the reason your reading it ,then let’s go through a basic definition and difference of both creams.
BB (Blemish Balm) CREAM:
Starting
with BB creams. BB creams stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm creams. BB
creams are great light weight alternative to foundations. And it’s perfect for
daily use and for those who don’t want to wear heavy foundations still want
some coverage and evening out of the skin. In fact it can be as the first step
in makeup for beginners introducing them to face makeup. It is used and marketed
as all in one face cream, the basic benefits that almost all BB creams may contains
is a moisturizer, SPF, primer, sunscreen, concealer and foundations. There some
versions available which carry some skin care benefits within them, those which
claim to help minimize pores, reduce wrinkles, increase collagen, improving
skin texture or just whitening skin. Although many of them may actually have
these qualities but still you should never stop you skin care regime relying on
them. As keeping in mind it’s a makeup product no matter how many benefits it
will never be all concentrated towards skincare. Shade selection is sometimes
tiring in BB creams as the shade spectrum is usually quite limited especially
in drugstore range but with a few trail and errors you will get to your shade.
CC (Color Correcting) CREAM:
Now, let’s talk about CC creams .CC creams
stands for color correcting cream meaning that it is a brightening cream. And
like BB cream it’s also one step face makeup. The formulation of CC cream gives
all the same benefits as those of a BB cream, like priming your skin and
protect it with SPF, Moisturize and control oil and the shiny feel on your
skin. It is also supposed to neutralize your skin tone for a more even
complexion appearance. Many of the CC creams also claim to fade dark spots, sun
spots and old acne marks over the course of time.CC cream, also claims to combat
redness, uneven skin tone and dark shadows. CC creams have much lighter coverage
compared to BB creams. CC creams are smoother and less oily finish. Much
lighter in texture compared to BB cream and being light in texture most cc creams
provide minimal coverage, but with better oil control so it can be a good pick
during summer time and for oily skins ,which tend to need more of oil control
then thinking about coverage. and if you have imperfections that need more
correction then cc cream can be a good pick, while as with bb creams never skin
your skincare regime just replying on the CC creams, as at the end of the day
both are makeup products.CC creams have less shade selection issue compared to
bb creams as most of them self-adjusting to the skin color. And yes this is one
of the reasons for calling it a color correcting cream.
So,which one is for me?
Now as
a brief intro of both creams is discussed, now the main question is there…which
one should I opt and which one would be a better selection for me…
Other
than being a makeup product. BB creams are supposed to be more preventive meaning
they are supposed to prevent any skin problems that may appear on like in
future like breakouts. And provide coverage similar to a tinted moisturizer. BB
creams are great for sensitive skins because they lack many of the foundation ingredients
to which any sensitive skin may be allergic. And it can also be a good pick for
mature skins and for the skins which are looking for coverage to even out the
skin tone and texture to a good extent. While CC creams are supposed to
corrective meaning they are ought to correct existing problems that any skin
may have.CC creams are smoother and much lighter in texture compared to BB
creams.CC creams provide much better oil control so it can be a good pick
during summer time and for oily skins, which tend to need more of oil control
then thinking about coverage. And if u have imperfections that need more
correction then cc cream can be a good pick, while as with bb creams never skin
your skincare regime just replying on the CC creams, as at the end of the day
both are makeup products.
Even
though BB creams are lighter in texture then foundations, while CC creams are
even lighter on face. All in all both are just basic tinted moisturizers with an
added kick to help combat skin a problem that may already exists or to help to
prevent ones that may surface in future. And both things technically work the
same thing for skin. Which one selected for you that decision depends on two
points that you should consider two major points before selecting either, what
type of coverage you want. And what is your skin type so u can buy a version
which would be appropriate for your skin type.

WHAT IS BB CREAM? THE BASICS...
Today,
we will talk about the most talked about thing these days, BB cream. If there
is one product which has for overnight fame and success in the makeup industry
then it’s none other than the BB creams.
What are these
BB creams any way. BB creams stands for blemish balm/Beblesh Balm cream. BB creams
were originally formulated in Germany for plastic surgery patients so they can
conceal the surgery scars while it can also be healing it. But now in recent
years n the Asian celebrities who are famous for their flawless skin, when they
gave BB cream a try it was then when it has fled the surgeon and medical hands
and landed in the fame light of makeup industry, and now after Asia now its
gaining popularity all over the world especially Europe and North America, and
now middle east.
WHAT DOES
BB CREAM DO?
So, why should we choose to switch BB creams
rather than tinted moisturizers .The main difference between BB creams and
tinted Moisturizers are that BB creams come with some skin care benefits. One
of the most prominent things which actually made the BB cream overnight famous
is its quality of being the all in one product, rather than having to use
hundreds of different products to get the “Yes I have a naturally perfect skin “look,
this one wonder product has it all for you ,whether you say moisturizer ,SPF,
Primer ,or foundation it’s all there is a one handy tube. Whether you just
want to even out your skin tone, want to brighten up your dull skin or have skin
concerns like pigmentation, redness or aging it doesn't matters any sort of
skin condition still you will b able to find the right BB cream that incorporates
all for your skin type and concerns. Another plus points that BB creams poses
that it doesn't clog pores as a foundation does, which makes it suitable for everyday use. In short it’s a glamorized form of a tinted moisturizer. It’s
also a sure favorite those who work and done get time to slap hundreds of
things on the face in the morning and for those who don’t like layering too
much products every day.
WHO IS IT BEST SUITED FOR:
As we already discussed that it caters for
almost every skin type , so it will almost all people with medium dark to very
pale skin tone ,both women and men .And if you have a very dark skin tone you
might consider mixing up a tiny amount of foundation in it to make it match
your skin shade. Unlike foundations ,most BB cream caters less but each shade
covers a good spectrum of skin shades ,cause they oxidize a bit to match the
natural skin tone of the person wearing it and due to its natural finish unlike
foundation it can be rated as a unisex product. Now many companies have
actually started to launch BB creams, which are specifically designed for men
for their skin texture tones just like as we have fairness creams for men.
HOW TO SELECT A BB CREAM:
Now, the
question is how to select a BB cream, when it comes to the formulation selection
the BB creams follows somehow the same guide line as like foundation. Because
just like foundation BB creams also comes in different finishes from dewy to
matte, different coverage consistencies from sheer to full coverage. For
different skin types, for different skin issues, Now, we will discuss some
basic coverage types.
WHAT FORMS OF COVERAGE BB CREAMS OFFER:
SHEER- MEDIUM COVERAGE: The sheer to
medium coverage works just to slightly even out the skin, to cover up little to
minor imperfections, if your skin is in a god condition with not too much zits
or scars then it’s the best to select this coverage for the most natural look.
MEDIUM-FULL COVERAGE: What this type
of coverage does is from covering from minor imperfections and marks it may
cover the entire skin completely including zits and scars. And anyone having problematic
skin should select this sort of coverage, to give a flawless finish to the
skin.
WHAT TYPES OF SKIN FINISHES BB CREAMS
HAVE:
DEWY FINISH: Dewy finish means this
sort of BB cream gives a shiny, glowy look to the skin; such types of BB creams
usually possess finely milled shimmer in it to create this look. This sort of
finishes would be recommended if you have very much dry or dull skin to add
some freshness to the face. While oily skins should avoid dewy versions as it
may create a look of more oily feel on skin.
MATTE FINISH: Matte finish creates a
smooth non shine skin finish. This sort of BB creams are most of the time also
working for oil controls .So, this finish could a great option if your skin
falls under oily skin category or you find most of the products oxidize on your
skin ,then this finish can be a help on that as well.
HOW TO USE BB CREAMS:
Applying it as simple as applying a usual
cream. Cleanse your face, and then carry out with your daily skin regime, and
then you can apply the BB cream you can use a flat top kabuki brush, a beauty
blender or simply your fingers to apply it. One of the most important thing to
note about BB creams is that it has to cleansed out really well, so when you’re
about to wash it of after your day make sure you sure a good cleanser to remove
all traces of it.
