MAKEUP TIP :Foundation Application

Apply foundation in down ward direction...Why?
Because applying the foundation upwards means applying the foundation against the hair growth which may make the hairs stand up ,making it more noticeable and uneven. While applying foundation in downward direction it will be along with the hair growth direction, and it will make the hairs settle down diminishing their appearance and the skin will appear smoother. So, always apply the foundation downwards.

Guide to Foundation Textures

Foundations not only differ in coverage, while varying in coverage they also differ in textures. Although, the brands vary in their terminology, foundations mostly come in the following four textures.
- Matte
- Satin
- Luminous
- High shine
Now, let’s have a brief intro of each texture. Starting with

MATTE:

Matte finish also known as powder finish. This texture leaves the skin with a non-shine and a powder like finish. Matte finish foundation has always been the preferred choice by most, due to the perfect clean soft look that it leaves on the skin.
Result- No shine
Perfect for- Combination, oily and very oily skin. This is one of the most long lasting finish among all, so they are a great option for special occasions or events when you need your makeup to last the test or time.
Avoid - skin which are super dry, or have issues of fine lines and wrinkles. The powder finish often highlights the fine lines and imperfections, so it may not be suited much for mature skins. And also this will not be a good option for dry skin has matte foundations can make dry patches look worse.

SATIN:

Satin finish also known has sheen /cashmere finish. This texture is semi matte giving a natural smooth finish. It’s one of the most flattering and natural looking foundation formula.
Result- Sheen finish, keeping the skin look natural with a slight glow. Not as shiny as luminous not as flat as matte.
Perfect- for most skin types. Set the foundation with a translucent powder to help it lasts longer. Those who have slightly more oily skin carry around a blot powder and apply over the T-zone to reduce any shine that may appear during the wear.
Avoid – if you have super oily skin, or have a very problematic skin with a lot of scars or zits. You may need to keep on powdering the face to avoid excess oil during the day.

LUMINOUS-

Luminous also known has dewy/pearlized finish. It’s one of the most popular finish during summer months for creating the shiny sun kissed look. It is also famous in creating the flawless skin look at weddings /events. This type of finish while one side looks glossy and flawless but it doesn't last as long as matte or satin finish.
Result- It leaves the skin with glowy finish. Skin looks intensely moisturized.
Perfect- for people with normal to dry skin as it can add the shine which these lack of. It can also be a great option for adding radiance to mature skin.
Avoid- if you have large pores as luminous finish tends to highlight them. Blemished skin may also not like this texture as it will make blemishes stand out more. It you have super oily skin luminous finish will make your skin too shiny even with a setting powder.

HIGH GLOSS -

High gloss finish also known as shimmering finish. This is one possess the most highest shine among all textures of foundation. This type of finish is not seen much in the casual use by the masses, and its mostly seen on catwalks and in editorial shoots. It’s usually paired with a lot of face sculpting to maintain the face defined. This texture is usually not available as ready to use but created by adding illuminators into the luminous foundations.
Finish- Its gives a very glossy finish.
Perfect for- this texture won’t suit well for casual use. A skin which is super dry may be able to carry this texture that also with a blot powder handy. This texture is primarily used for editorials and photo-shoots.
Avoid – if you aren't on a photo-shoot, a magazine coverage.

Now, you have a basic idea of what each of these terms actually mean in the foundation cosmetic world. Which finish to be selected also depends on the season of the year it’s been worn as weather affects the skin, as even some oily skins may need moisturization during winters. So, understand how your skin reacts during each season before opting which finish to go.
Which of the above will you go for?

        Stay Gorgeous, Ciao

MAKEUP TIP: Get Ready with One Product

What one product can give you the complete polished look in a matter of minutes? In this situation a good red lipstick is your savior. Yes just a red lipstick, If you don’t have time for a full makeup, and still want to look good, just paint on a bright red lipstick, its happy, glamorous and instantly brightens up the face without much effort.Below are few of my picks for the look.

MAKEUP TIP: Eye shadow Foiling

Metallic eye shades always add more oomph to the look. And anyone can achieve the same steely effect from eye shades just using regular shimmer eye shades. The regular shimmer eye shadow color can be intensified by simply damping your eye shadow brush with a makeup fixing spray like
Mac Fix+ before dipping the brush into the pan. This technique is called foiling.
And if you don’t have any makeup spray handy you can always turn to eye drops, the result won’t be as vibrant as with the use of a makeup fixative but the technique will work. Do not use water as water will evaporate and you will be left with just chalky mess.

Make sure you don’t dip the wet brush straight in the pan to prevent the eye shade consistency from ruining, take out a bit separately to try foiling out. This technique can also be used on pressed eye shadows, pigments for more intense effect and even matte eye shadows to intensify their colors.

MAKEUP TIP: MEDICATED FOUNDATION

Pore clogging by foundations can make oily skin and acne skin situations version. Try adding a drop of witch hazel astringent and a drop of tea tree oil into the foundation, mix it up and then apply. This will turn any regular foundation into a medicated one. It will not only help in control the sebum production but it also helps in preventing from zits due to pore clogs. Witch hazel works great for oil control and tea tree is really helpful for controlling blemishes and acne.

DIY Makeup Brush Cleaner

Makeup Brushes are essential for a proper make up application, its cleanliness is also equally important. And the more I love all my makeup brushes I’m always more concerned about them to be clean and hygienic. There are a whole lot of store bought makeup brush cleaners available. Cinema Secret is brush cleaner my favorite. But there is another one version which is also one of my favorites and it’s also easy to create at home, and includes some of the very basic ingredients which you can easily pull out of your kitchen and use. So, now…

You will need
     - Extra Virgin Olive oil – 1 Part

      -  Apple Cider Vinegar – 2 Parts

  - Any regular liquid Dish soap (I love the lemon fragrant) – 3 Parts

So, how to make it…
Mix all these three ingredients in equal parts. The soap gets rids of all the makeup residue over the brushes...The Vinegar is important to kill bacteria that might be lurking in your brush bristles, and the olive oil helps to condition your brushes to feel soft once again after they dry up.

You should clean your brushes biweekly to once a month if you use them sparingly, while a weekly wash will be good and hygienic if you use them frequently. Cleaning your brushes will not only ensure keeping your skin safe from zits it also makes your brushes lasts longer.

MAKE UP TIP :Bold Brows

Trend to try:

Bold brows are getting popular now this fall season. Try to grow out or shape your brows thicker. Thick brows not only give a more defined and confident look to the face. It also helps to frame your features more and transform your look. If you have scanty or thin eyebrows you can still follow this trend by shaping them up with the help of brow products. Anastasia Beverly Hills has made some of the best additions in the brow shaping product line. Below products can help you achieve perfect well defined eyebrows.

MAKEUP TIP: FINISHING POWDER REPLACEMENT

If you run out of your finishing powder any day, and you are running late and an urgent replacement to set you’re foundation. A simple baby powder can be your savior in this situations. A light dusting of baby powder over your foundations sets it in the same manner as the finishing powders do, and it does works for keeping the skin matte for a good amount of time. It may not be the exact replacement of regular finishing powder in terms of oil control but it does a good job for urgent situations.

MAKEUP TIP: PREVENT EYELINER FROM SMUDGING:

Smudging the eye pencils over the eyelid and on the water line is a common issue.
You can prevent the pencil eyeliner from smudging by applying a powder eye shadow over the pencil. The eye shadow will set the eyeliner in place and prevent it from smudging or smearing.
You can choose matching or slightly darker shade eye shadows to create more depth in the shade.

Below is an example of an eye pencil / eye shadow combination that can be used.

MAKEUP TIP: ONE STEP CONTOURING

For easy contouring of cheek bones use a fan brush.

Contouring these days is getting popular and apart from its popularity its actual a essentials part of makeup to give the face some definition. If makes your face appear slimmer while adding more dimension, structure and a bit of warmth. But contouring is surely not and easy step for beginners and or when you’re in a rush. So, for an easier and faster way to contour is using a Fan brush. Fan Brush allows you to control the placement of the product and with it you are less likely to apply too much of the products at one go. Many companies do offer fan brushes available to be bought, A few examples are Kevy Aucoin's fan brush while from the drugstore Eco Tools Fan brush is a good example.

MAKEUP TIP:HOW TO CREATE FULLER LIPS

  • Always use a lip liner, it not makes your lips defined but also makes your lipstick lasts longer.
  • Apply concealer around the lips so your lips and your lipstick shades appear much more clean and prominent.
  • Pick light colored lipsticks, and textures with satin to glossy finishes work the best to make appear the lips larger.
  • Apply a tiny dab of lip-gloss in the middle of both top and bottom lips.
  • Apply a light brown concealer just below the lower lip in the middle below the curve and apply a highlighter on the cupid bow over the upper lip, this enhances the lip size and make it appear more fuller.
