BB CREAM or CC CREAM...how to choose the right one?

BB and CC creams both are marketed as if they are designed different and are for separate issues, while theoretically are different. While honestly there is no difference between the both and serve identical purpose. The thing gets a bit confusing here a bit for some consumers because the BB/CC creams benefits and coverage differs greatly among different brands. For example Clinique’s CC cream is more opaque comparing to others. So the overage entirely depends on companies that can be just opted on personal preference. Still as the post is about there difference between both and the reason your reading it ,then let’s go through a basic definition and difference of both creams.

BB (Blemish Balm) CREAM:
Starting with BB creams. BB creams stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm creams. BB creams are great light weight alternative to foundations. And it’s perfect for daily use and for those who don’t want to wear heavy foundations still want some coverage and evening out of the skin. In fact it can be as the first step in makeup for beginners introducing them to face makeup. It is used and marketed as all in one face cream, the basic benefits that almost all BB creams may contains is a moisturizer, SPF, primer, sunscreen, concealer and foundations. There some versions available which carry some skin care benefits within them, those which claim to help minimize pores, reduce wrinkles, increase collagen, improving skin texture or just whitening skin. Although many of them may actually have these qualities but still you should never stop you skin care regime relying on them. As keeping in mind it’s a makeup product no matter how many benefits it will never be all concentrated towards skincare. Shade selection is sometimes tiring in BB creams as the shade spectrum is usually quite limited especially in drugstore range but with a few trail and errors you will get to your shade.

CC (Color Correcting) CREAM:
Now, let’s talk about CC creams .CC creams stands for color correcting cream meaning that it is a brightening cream. And like BB cream it’s also one step face makeup. The formulation of CC cream gives all the same benefits as those of a BB cream, like priming your skin and protect it with SPF, Moisturize and control oil and the shiny feel on your skin. It is also supposed to neutralize your skin tone for a more even complexion appearance. Many of the CC creams also claim to fade dark spots, sun spots and old acne marks over the course of time.CC cream, also claims to combat redness, uneven skin tone and dark shadows. CC creams have much lighter coverage compared to BB creams. CC creams are smoother and less oily finish. Much lighter in texture compared to BB cream and being light in texture most cc creams provide minimal coverage, but with better oil control so it can be a good pick during summer time and for oily skins ,which tend to need more of oil control then thinking about coverage. and if you have imperfections that need more correction then cc cream can be a good pick, while as with bb creams never skin your skincare regime just replying on the CC creams, as at the end of the day both are makeup products.CC creams have less shade selection issue compared to bb creams as most of them self-adjusting to the skin color. And yes this is one of the reasons for calling it a color correcting cream.

So,which one is for me?
Now as a brief intro of both creams is discussed, now the main question is there…which one should I opt and which one would be a better selection for me…
Other than being a makeup product. BB creams are supposed to be more preventive meaning they are supposed to prevent any skin problems that may appear on like in future like breakouts. And provide coverage similar to a tinted moisturizer. BB creams are great for sensitive skins because they lack many of the foundation ingredients to which any sensitive skin may be allergic. And it can also be a good pick for mature skins and for the skins which are looking for coverage to even out the skin tone and texture to a good extent. While CC creams are supposed to corrective meaning they are ought to correct existing problems that any skin may have.CC creams are smoother and much lighter in texture compared to BB creams.CC creams provide much better oil control so it can be a good pick during summer time and for oily skins, which tend to need more of oil control then thinking about coverage. And if u have imperfections that need more correction then cc cream can be a good pick, while as with bb creams never skin your skincare regime just replying on the CC creams, as at the end of the day both are makeup products.
Even though BB creams are lighter in texture then foundations, while CC creams are even lighter on face. All in all both are just basic tinted moisturizers with an added kick to help combat skin a problem that may already exists or to help to prevent ones that may surface in future. And both things technically work the same thing for skin. Which one selected for you that decision depends on two points that you should consider two major points before selecting either, what type of coverage you want. And what is your skin type so u can buy a version which would be appropriate for your skin type.
Hope was helpful.
