Most of us easily identify the oily skin due to the production of excess oil (sebum if being technical), that cause the skin shine a lot. Oily skin has increased amount of sebum on the skin due to overactive oil glands. Oily skins has the following characteristics

Along with so many things to take care of ,Oily skin has one good thing .It retains a very good amount of moisture keeping it constantly moisturized this is one of the reasons oily skin stays young and doesn't shows ageing signs for long.
Now taking care of oily skin takes a lot of knowledge. Most of people, who possess oily skin, complain about consistent acne, it’s the most common query asked to me how to solve it. And many of them actually end up applying zillions of products just to cure it, while most of the time while trying to fix it most of them are actually making it worse, by trying to treat it the wrong way.
RECOMMENDED REGIME, FOR OILY SKIN:
A basic skin regime no matter what skin type consist of a few basic steps/products a cleanser, a toner ,moisturizer, an exfoliating scrub and a face mask. Now of which genre these all of these mentioned products have to be used differs among skin types. No, you can’t use the same thing for all skin types. For oily skin its stated below :
CLEANSER:
Cleansing is the most important step when it comes to oily skin types. You need a cleanser which is specifically designed to control the product of oil and works as an anti-bacterial. I usually recommend tea tree based cleansers; they not only help to cleanse the oily skin well but also work as a good anti-bacterial which helps preventing acne and clogged pores. Cleansing is ought to be done every day at least twice a day.
TONER:
In toners say yes to toner and no to astringent. Yes most of the astringents can be bad for oily skins, how? Astringents have a high content of alcohol in the target to control oil but what it actually does is strip away the required moisture as well from the skin. And the skin is a self-defensive organ, if its required moisture is stripped of in result it will product even more oil. Witch hazel is excellent for oily skin; remember you need oil control not stripping it all away. Use toner every time you wash your face.
MOISTURIZER:
Though oily skin produces excess oil still it needs moisture content in it which is actually moisture not just more oil. A gel based or water based moisturizers work best for oily skin. I prefer gel versions they are refreshing minus the sticky feeling. Use daily.
EXFOLIATING SCRUB:
Exfoliation is important for all skin types while it’s one of the most integral part for the care for oily skins, as it deep cleanses the pores, prevents it from clogging which can result in white/blackheads. Repeat at least 2-3 times a week, and in the case of very oily skin daily or alternate day is advisable.
FACE PACKS:
Face packs again work as exfoliation step, they help to control the basic production of sebum from oil glands and prevent pore clogging. Clay based masks work best. Apply twice a week.
In general product selections always look for oil free- non comedogenic and water based products to control oil without irritating it further.
