One of the biggest things I hear about as a makeup artist is pores….mostly in the form of a question about foundation like “will it sink into my pores?” or “will it make my pores stand out?” and then that is sometimes followed by “what is the best way to make my pores smaller?”—All legitimate questions!
Unfortunately any person who has been cursed with sebum-prone skin, when it comes to maintaining a healthy look throughout the day, a little bit of extra care has to be taken into account. This can be particularly stressful on warm and summer days, so one of the ways to avoid a makeup meltdown would be to use a face primer,.So,today Im reviewing Benefit: The POREfessional face primer which is said to be HG material for those with open pores. I
WHAT IT CLAIMS
"Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals." - Benefit
PACKAGING
Benefit is known for its irreverent product names with cute and chic packaging. The product comes in a pretty sea blue plastic squeeze tube, which is decorated with matte pale blue and white vertical stripes, with the ‘spokeswomen’ character on the front. The front is simple but effective. It has a shiny black screw on lid. It has a small nozzle to take out the product and helps control the amount to dispense quite well. The tube is packaged in a cardboard box which comes with its set of instructions on usage, product details, date of expiry etc.
TEXTURE & SWATCH
Benefit Porefessional Primer claims to have a balm like texture which pretty much holds true. It has a very silky finish which applies easily on the face. You are supposed to dab it onto your problem areas instead of rubbing it in as directed. The face primer certainly has a very silicone-y texture.The consistency of the product is quite thick, but very silky and smooth after applying and blending. Definitely oil-free and lightweight. The primer it self has a mild pleasant smell nothing over powering , its fades away right after application. Personally I like the primer as it makes me feel that the primer is working Time to see the effectiveness of minimizing the appearance of pores!
As you can see, the POREfessional has a bit of a beige color, but don’t be alarmed it doesnt adds any tint over the skin and applies invisible because after it is blended in it just leaves a smooth and mattifying finish.I have also used it over deeper skin tones it doesnt creates any cast.
MY EXPERIENCE
Application
The POREfessional is what I’d call a multi-use product. Coined as a “PRO balm”, its main focus is minimizing visible pores and fine lines, so it’s essentially a spot treatment product.
Before foundation:The POREfessional creates a smooth and even canvas before you apply your foundation so it minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines leaving you with a seamless finish.
After foundation:The POREfessional can be used during the day for a touch up in case your pores come out during hiding. (we don’t want that now do we!)
Without foundation:Because the POREfessional is quite mattifying, it is perfect for oil control (not to mention the Vitamin E derivative it contains which is known to protect skin from free radicals)
You only need a small amount of this it feels so velvety on your skin. It leaves your skin feeling so silky and soft which is a lovely base for make-up.
This stuff is impressive! While there is nothing on the market that is going to make you look like you have no pores, this does a great job of minimizing them and smoothing out your skin tone. It also has a great mattifying effect!

This can be a good gift idea for makeup junkie friends and girl friends as well.
