PRODUCT PREVIEW : NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

The cosmetics industry has recently gone contour crazy. Contouring is nothing new and it has been done for decades , but as of since last year more and more makeup companies are coming out with their own contour products and kits.
And there is another new addition which Im previewing today, its the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette .

NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette ($30) is a new refillable highlight and contour palette that includes eight shades of  highlighting and contouring shades. Each shade is interchangeable and can be replaced by popping it out of the palette.

There are 4 highlight shades and 4 contour shades in the palette. Each pan size is quite large. The pan sizes on this palette are much larger than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

The shades included are...
  • Pearly Pale White
  • Matte Nude
  • Matte Soft Yellow
  • Pearly Soft Peach
  • Matte Soft Brown with slight red undertone
  • Matte Neutral Brown
  • Matte Taupe
  • Matte Deep Brown

On the back of the packaging, there is a handy guide to highlighting and contouring. It tells you exactly where you can apply the shades and how to achieve the highlighted and sculpted look.
This seems to a instant hit , as this is suppose to be most budget friendly contour kits present.
But talking about the pigmentation and the work-ability of the palette has mixed views currently.

Highlight Shades

Contour shades

As per my view, all shades are great pigmentation wise, while I find that the highlight shades can easily work on the lighter skin tones, while they may appear chalky on deeper tones, and the contour shades I find three to be quite close to each other and then a sudden very dark shade which seems to be a proper contour shade, what I think the deeper skin tones can work out the contour shades with a easy hand while the lighter skin tone may have to work more cautiously in the contour side of this palette.
I love NYX products ,they are no doubt among the drugstore companies which make great quality affordable products. But as for this one, For just a $10 less from Anastasia Contour kits, at a $30 price this palette seems to very attractive to be a great buy, while actually in contouring its about the right shades and pigmentation over the quantity what you should look out for. While this palette can still be tried on by lighter skin tones.

Have you tried this palette? What do you think about it,is it a good buy?
Or if you havent bought it yet would you want to?Do share your views...
Till next time Ma'as Salama...
