Prevent Makeup Meltdowns

As-Salam-O-Alykum...Glam'Yees...

It’s hot out there, and it’s hard to look pulled together.Scorching sun, humidity and makeup don’t really go well together. We all feel like going easy on the makeup or even skipping it in the summers.
As your body uses natural cooling mechanisms, like sweating, you start melting. Eyeliner begins to drip, lipstick tends to smear, foundation begins to gradually slide down your cheeks and before you know it, you look a little like Alice Cooper.
Well, no need to worry — you can prevent looking like a hot mess with a few simple steps. Read on to learn easy tricks to avoid a summer makeup meltdown.

Less is More
*
Summer is a great time to let your skin breathe. Light pink and bronze colors work perfectly during the summer months because your skin naturally takes on a little darker hue. Try wearing less foundation on hot days.Pair up a dime-sized amount of your favorite full-coverage foundation with a dollop of Daytime Protective Emulsion and blend for perfectly even skin tone. Mixing your foundation into your moisturizer will give you color and protection without looking heavy or cakey.

Lightweight sunscreen

No matter how much you dread the cakey feel of the sunblock, never step out in the sun without one. Gone are the days of those heavy, sticky, oil-based sunscreens. There are some fabulous lightweight sunblocks that can give you the required sun-protection without caking up or leaving a white shadow on the face. Some of my favorite is LA ROCHE-POSAY ANTHELIOS MINERAL TINTED ULTRA LIGHT SUNSCREEN FLUID SPF 50

Prime it up

Ever wondered how those models and celebrities flaunt the faces that look like made of porcelain, even in the sunniest outdoor places? Other than skills of the Photoshop, that’s the magic of a Face Primer. Primers contain silicones that layer the face by filling in the lines and pores. This not only makes the skin appear smoother and even textured, but also makes the makeup last longer by absorbing oils for long time. There are different types of primers for eye lids, face and even lips, suitable for different types of skins. Check out some of my picks here

Use powder shadows and blushes

Powder shadows and blushes last longer than the creamy ones and mattify the face. When used over good quality primers, they give beautiful colors without clogging the pores with more grease. You can go for the organic ones  or choose from the conventional ones.
Stains are also fabulous options for summer time. They sink into the skin and the color lasts for hours and hours.

Weather-Proof Your Mascara

Finding a mascara that can stand sweat and tears without wrecking your lashes can prove a daunting task. Take no chances with Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Splashes! waterproof mascara. It lengthens, volumizes, curls, and conditions your lashes, all while staying put.
Pro-tip: pair your mascara with a multi-tasking liner like Tarte Emphas Eyes Waterproof Clay Shadow/Liner. It will complete your look and take you from day to night without retouching

Blot to Trot

Stop shine in its tracks with blotting papers. These simple-to-use papers absorb excess oil and reduce shine without ruining your makeup. Sephora has a great collection infused with soothing ingredients like Tea Tree, Lavender, and Vitamin E.I can’t imagine the world before blotting papers were discovered. Blotting papers are such a boon to oily skin gals. You are told to not wash your face frequently to get rid of the oil, but that means you shining like a mirror just after a couple of hours. Not anymore! Always keep a pack of blotting papers in your purse, no matter what skin type you are. They totally absorb the oils from your skin and save your makeup to last a bit longer. Some types of blotting papers are also coated with absorbing powder to give the matte finish.

Use a setting spray

The combo of foundation primer and silicon based foundation should be enough to keep your makeup from melting off you face, but if you need that extra layer of stay in place security, a setting spray will do the trick.

Light on the Lotion

During the summer, your skin produces more moisture naturally. Heavy creams and thick lotions can make you feel like your skin is suffocating.Try a lighter approach with Firming Body Nourisher. This multi-functional body lotion moisturizes without leaving a greasy film and contains a unique hydroxyl complex that helps skin look younger and firmer. Don’t leave home without it!

This is all you need to do to enjoy outdoors and still wear your makeup in summers. Don’t forget to drink lots of water though. Be cool and look beautiful this summer!
