Homemade HALAWA (Hair removal sugar wax)

Sugar Wax,Sugaring or Halawa, what ever you want to call its and ancient, tried and tested way to wax naturally. Many beauty regimes do more harm than good because most contain many harsh chemicals. While this ancient Arabic beauty recipe will not harm your body and would save you some good bucks a swell. Another plus of this recipe is with time with the continous use ,the hair growth starts to diminish and it also helps to clean out the pores. See beloe how to make your own sugar wax at home to remove unwanted hairs.

Ingredients:

1 cup white sugar (must be white so you can see it slowly caramelize)

2 tbsp water

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp rock salt optional

2 tsp olive oil

HOW TO MAKE IT

Check out the video below where Maha demonstrates a very easy yet proper way of creating it. The above ingredient list is my take on making the Halawa ,while its your choice to follow the above list or follow that Maha's version of the recipe.

To store:

1. Divide the whole mixture into approximately 2 tablespoon amounts and individually wrap the mixture in cling wrap and keep in the refrigerator.

2. When you need to use it, take out on the packs and heat it in the microwave for 10 secs.

3. Once it heated, it wouldn't be pliable and usable immediately, make sure to play with it again to slowly bring it to right temperature with the warmth of your hands.

Tips:

1. If the sugar wax is too hard, continue pulling and wetting your right hand - just don't be impatient and pour water on it, otherwise you'll end up with sticky syrup.

2. If it gets too sticky, just try to cook it off again to remove excess water.

3. My recipe version of sugar wax is darker than what was shown in the video, so don't freak out if yours is not the same color as Maha's.
