 As-Salam-o-Alykum...GLAM'YEES...
The only thing I love more than trying new products, is finding new uses for the things I already have sitting around my house. And today we will talk about the beauty uses of Olive Oil.
We all know that olive oil is one of the healthiest vegetable oils, along with coconut oil. Not only can you consume this nutritious food and receive numerous benefits, you can also use it to boost the nutrient value of your beauty products.

Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols.Antioxidants, when topically applied, may help protect the skin from premature skin aging. Vitamin E partly accounts for the anti-aging benefits of olive oil because it helps restore skin smoothness and protects against ultraviolet light.Adding olive oil to your beauty routine may provide immense benefits to your skin, hair, and nails. Here are some of the olive oil skin benefits you may find surprising.

1. Moisturizer

Olive oil works great as a moisturizer if you have a few extra minutes to let it absorb into your skin, as it won’t absorb as quickly as other moisturizers. It is especially good if you on elbows, knees, and ankles that are prone to dryness.Whether applied to face or body, olive oil will penetrate deep into the skin and provide a long-lasting shield of moisture to keep skin smooth and supple. Used either as a night cream or daily moisturizer, it is best applied to damp skin, when water can help reduce any feeling of greasiness. We recommend using extra virgin olive oil.
Try adding a little lemon juice mixed with olive oil can provide a more bracing and refreshing feeling.

2.Facial exfoliator

To create a facial scrub (it can also be used anywhere on the body) grab a bowl. Mix a ½ cup of brown sugar, a ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil, and 2 capsules of vitamin E. Mix together, then apply it to your face. Scrub for about a minute. Brown sugar is best to use because it is not as granulated and more gentle for the face.

3.Face mask

There are so many facial masks you can make with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). You can literally add it to any kind of mask. Below are the ingredients for masks for a few different skin types/conditions.
· Oily/Acne prone: Use the egg white from one egg, 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tsp of EVOO, 1 tbsp of milk.
· Dry/Combination: 1 tbsp of smushed up avocado, 1 tbsp of EVOO, 1 tbsp of honey.

4.Body Buff

Another one of olive oil’s benefits for skin is its usefulness in exfoliating applications. A common exfoliating method using olive oil is to mix 1 tablespoon of the oil with natural sea salt, rubbing this mixture over the skin. The mild abrasive qualities of the sea salt, combined with the deep, penetrating action of the oil, will remove dead skin cells and leave the epidermis looking renewed and glowing.Sea salt can also be replaced by coarse sugar. Or add a few tablespoons of olive oil with a drop or two of lavender essential oil in a bath. This is a luxurious way to relax, soothe and moisturize the whole body.

5.Eyelash booster

Wash and dry an empty mascara tube. Fill it with olive oil and apply it on your eyelashes every night before bed.

6. Scalp Conditioner

When used on hair and scalp, olive oil can be considered two products: a deep conditioner and a dandruff controller. If your scalp is feeling dry or you just want to give your hair a little TLC, you can use warm olive as a scalp and hair treatment. The best way to warm your oil is by placing it in plastic container and letting it sit in hot water until its warm, make sure you don’t let water in. Apply it generously to your scalp and hair and let it sit for a minimum of 15-20 minutes. If you have longer, leave it in longer. I like to put it in my hair at night and put on a shower cap over it and wash it out in the morning.
Hair mask
To use as a hair mask, take a ½ cup of mayo, one egg, and 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Mix it all up and apply to the ends of your hair working upwards. Do not put on the scalp to avoid looking too oily. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash your hair as usual.

6.Shine Serum

Add an extra-glossy finish to your hair by rubbing a few drops of olive oil on flyaway ends.
Lip balm
To make a lip balm pour a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and mix it with some raw, unprocessed honey. Then apply to your lips! It’s tasty too. You can also store it in a little container to take with you, but only use it the day you prepare it, and then throw it away.

7.Lip exfoliator

Chapped lips is something many people suffer from, a lip exfoliator is beneficial in removing the dead skin and allows the lip balm to penetrate better. To make a quick lip exfoliator at home all you need is to take some granulated sugar, and mix it with about a teaspoon of olive oil. Keep mixing until you get the right consistency, but there should be more sugar than oil. Massage into your lips, then gently wipe off with a towel.

Dab it on your cuticles and rub it in for soft cuticles before pushing them back and you are on your way to a perfect home manicure.

10. Shaving

Shaving with olive oil ,yes you read it right, mix in aloe gel for a smooth diy shaving gel. shaving with olive oil will act as your moisturizer as well.Preventing irritations and cut inflammations.

11.Makeup Remover

*

A small amount of olive oil on a cotton ball can be used as a makeup remover.Just a drop or two of extra virgin olive oil on a cotton pad is all it takes to gently and effectively remove makeup especially eye makeup without irritating the delicate skin around the eye area. The biggest added advantage is that when used consistently, olive oil can soften the skin around the eyes and smooth out wrinkles.

12.Make-up brush conditioner

*
Makeup brushes collect dirt, oil, and harbor bacteria, therefore they need cleansing too. And of course you can even use EVOO for your makeup brushes. It is very easy to use. All you do is take a paper towel, put some olive oil onto it, then swirl your brushes around on it. Afterwards rinse it with your facial cleanser, baby shampoo, or makeup cleanser. This will leave them soft, shiny, and clean.

13.Naturally lighten your hair

*
Mixing olive oil and honey is great for lip balm, as mentioned above. But did you know that if you apply this same combination to your hair it can make for a natural DIY hair lightener? Raw, unprocessed honey contains traces of hydrogen peroxide that gradually lighten the hair when applied consistently over time. The olive oil helps to soften the strands. You can also add ½ a banana for extra nourishment. Let it process for 10 minutes in the bowl. Then add to your hair and leave for 30-40 minutes. The measurements for this are up to the individual, and also depend on how long and how thick your hair is. You should see results after 4-5 times of doing it.

14.Cracked-Heel Repair

Split, rough heels need moisture to heal. After exfoliating with a pumice stone, apply olive oil to feet. Put on socks to lock in the hydrating treatment as you sleep.

What do you think? Will you be adding some olive oil to your beauty routine?
